Character design can tell a story with no words.
Character design is a passion of mine, and I try to use it in every project I can. It complex and personal. You create new worlds and situations to put these people into. To best show off how a character act and who they are, you use their design.
For my 100 project, where I had to do 100 of something, I decided to put my passion to the test and create 100 unique characters. I wanted to make sure every single character was different in their own way, so each character had different poses, personalities, looks, and titles. Even with the limitations of this project, you are able to see glimpses of the world these characters inhabit.
For the character reference sheets, I went back and reworked some of the designs for some characters from the 100 project to better flesh them out. In these reference sheets, I used a more realistic, detailed style to better show my range of style.
When I design characters, I try to make them as diverse as possible. Not only does it make everyone who can see them feel seen and represented, it also makes the world they inhabit feel more real.
