Packaging design and branding for a natural fruit cereal.

While working on the design for this cereal box, I knew I wanted to use my illustration skills for it, as I rarely get to do so for a project. I was inspired by Wheaties boxes and how they have a different athlete on each box to promote it to a wider audience. So for my concept, I wanted to do the opposite, I created a fictional internet celebrity, known for her gaming content, to be the celebrity on the cover of my cereal box.

For the cereal itself, I knew I wanted it to appeal to the niche audience an internet celebrity would create, so I decided to go with a fruity, healthy cereal brand. In my brand story, I made up how each fruit would be added over time to create this special cereal with six different flavors. I used fruits you rarely see as cereal flavors to better stand out to the crowd who wants to try something new, if the branding of the internet celebrity didn’t appeal to them. It created a wider net for the audience to be caught in.

For the back, I tied in the celebrity in the front, so you could enter in a sweepstakes to meet her and spend the weekend with her. It adds more to the world this cereal box would be set in, as it tells you who the celebrity is and why you would want to meet her. With this cereal box, you can enter a new world of flavor and fun.
